XyEnterprise XML Professional Publisher Deployed by NFPA,
A Worldwide Leader in Fire Protection
XyEnterprise collaborates with services organization DMSi to
implement a state-of-the-art, automated, XML publishing application
for NFPA
READING, MA – September 24, 2001 – XyEnterprise, the leading
developer of XML publishing software announced today that NFPA (National
Fire Protection Association), the leading authority and publisher of
fire safety and building codes, has implemented XyEnterprise’s XML
Professional Publisher 7.0® (XPP). XPP is a high performance XML
publishing application that composes pages from XML/SGML or other source
data and creates high quality output in, PDF and Postscript formats.
Based on recommendations from DMSi, a third party consulting firm, NFPA
chose XPP to produce the National Fire Codesâ published by the NFPA.
Consultants from DMSi also facilitated the deployment of the system.
NFPA, a non-profit organization, will use XML Professional Publisher
to streamline and accelerate the production and publication of complex
documents such as the National Fire Codes. This twelve-volume set
contains over 12,000 pages with 5,000 graphics, and is comprised of 300
individual pamphlets ranging from 8-700 pages. By implementing the XPP
system, NFPA expects to integrate and streamline the workflow between
editorial and production. The timesavings will translate into increased
product development.
Debra Rose, Composition Manager for NFPA said, “We were looking for a
solution that would automate the production process and cut our
production time. We worked with outside consulting firm DMSi, and they
recommended the XyEnterprise solution. DMSi then worked with
XyEnterprise to rapidly implement the XPP solution. We are very pleased
with the performance and functionality of the XPP software, which has
streamlined our production process.” Rose continued, “The overall
implementation of the XyEnterprise software, completed with consulting
services from DMSi, was straight to the point, which streamlined the
process of getting the system into our production environment.”
Peggy Groppo, Vice President of Consulting Services at DMSi
commented, “Our goal is to find the application tools best suited to
automating the delivery of complex information for our customers.
XyEnterprise XPP is the only publishing solution DMSi felt would meet
both the current and future needs of NFPA. We recommended it because we
knew it could automate the pagination process and allow NFPA to shorten
their production cycle.”
Richard Pasewark, Vice President Sales and Marketing for XyEnterprise
said, “We are pleased to have a renowned organization such as NFPA, a
worldwide leader in fire protection, showcasing the capabilities of XML
Professional Publisher. NFPA selected XPP because they needed a system
that was fast, reliable and capable of handling their evolving needs. We
look forward to a continued and mutually successful relationship with
NFPA and DMSi.”
