directWeb Portal Plus accesses information from any number and any type of Content Management System (CMS) and quickly delivers the relevant content to user requests via the web. The technology utilizes eidon’s Xbase technology, Software AG’s native XML database, and integration and implementation services provided by DMSi.

The benefits of personalization and profiling of large amounts of technical, reference, educational and other information can be realized by organizations that have invested large sums of money to implement content management systems but don’t have an efficient method for delivering custom content to their customers. Instead of static “information pages”, users can quickly access the specific information relative to their specific requirements – realizing true dynamic assembly of XML information.

The directWeb Portal Plus solution starts at the departmental level where authoring software (Microsoft Word, Arbortext EPIC, SoftQuad Xmetal) is used to create, edit and manage content. Once authored, the information is stored in a departmental or corporate CMS. The eidon Xbase integrates multiple departmental CMS repositories into a common CMS pool through an external API.

MatrixOrganizer then organizes the content from different departments in an enterprise-wide valid (matrix) schema. As content comes from different sources MatrixOrganizer can also provide automatic linking to relate like content and make one, integrated, information pool.

This eidonXbase API is also used to integrate the Tamino XML repository with the CMS pool. Tamino enables complex, internet-level, standards-based, online queries.

Because it is a native XML database, it can perform queries of large amounts of XML data much faster than traditional relational databases.

Finally directWeb Portal Plus makes it possible to search and access the integrated, organized, linked, target audience-specific contents via a dynamically created, fully configurable web-site.
